MAGGI BANNED IN DELHI AND TS AND AP LOOKING FOR THE RESULTS

HYDERABAD:  After the order issued by the Kerala government on Tuesday to temporarily stop distribution of Maggi noodles from over 1,000 retail outlets in the state, leads to awake the food inspectors of the Institute of Preventive Medicine in both the sates Telangana and AP to test the maggi samples.

Over Twenty-two samples from different batches of Maggi have been collected in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and sent for testing.The samples were picked up a week ago, but, as there is paucity of food analysts, it is taking time to test the samples.

Meanwhile a city-based child rights group namely "Balala Hakkula Sangham" has demanded for a ban on Maggi. They demanded that the results of each state should be analysed and the government must come up with a decision against such practices by food manufacturers.

After the ban imposed by the Delhi and Kerala government on maggi what the government of both the states will be looking at, are they waiting for the results of tests or they will also impose a ban on Maggi.

Delhi government on Wednesday deliberated on the issue with Nestle India, the manufacturer of the instant noodles. Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain met a number of officials of Nestle India and discussed finding of lead beyond the permissible level in Maggi masala (tastemaker).
“The government has imposed a ban on Maggi noodles for 15 days,” the Delhi health minister said. "The company has been directed to remove their stock from markets in Delhi,” said Jain, adding, “New stock to be brought in only after proper checking.”
The city government had on Tuesday decided to initiate a case against Nestle India after lab testing of Maggi samples, lifted from various parts of the city, was found to have lead exceeding the prescribed limits.
According to officials, a total of 13 samples of masala (tastemaker) were lifted by authorities from various areas of the city last week out of which 10 samples were found unsafe.

  1. The governments should take very strict action against all who indulge in food adulteration and give exemplary punishments to them so as to discourage the lots engaged in it.
