FLIPKART: BUYER ORDERED SMARTPHONE AND GOT TWO MANGOES

Karimnagar: Chiluveri Srucharan, a resident of Jagtial in Telangana, was surprised when online shopping website Flipkart gave him two mangoes in place of the smartphone he had ordered. Mr Srucharan, an electrical engineer, is still trying to get either the mobile phone he had originally ordered for 10 days ago, or a refund.

Using his credit card, Mr Srucharan had placed an order for an Asus phone, Zenfone 5, priced at Rs 8,099 during the mega sale conducted by the Flipkart on May 26. His order number was OD002947033911410000.

When the product was delivered, he found two mangoes in the box delivered by FedEx, a global courier service delivery company, on June 8 at 11 am. The stunned engineer said he brought the wrong delivery to the notice of some representatives of Flipkart by contacting its customer care service division the same day.

“I was informed that the amount will be refunded within 24 hours,” he said.

When the refund did not come, he called up customer service team again and was told that the cellphone would be shipped to his address within a day. When he called up customer service again after noticing that the amount was not refunded, Flipkart told him: “We would like to inform you that your recent replacement order has been cancelled as we have noticed an unwarranted return, which do not comply with our Returns Policy.”

“I have been getting varied answers whenever I complain about the wrong delivery. In a mail sent by representatives of the e-commerce company, they even threatened to block my order if I took this issue to the social media. I am planning to take help of a consumer forum if this problem is not addressed soon,” said Mr Srucharan.
