HYDERABAD: Complaints have been registered against Telangana chief minister K Chandrshekhar Rao for allegedly tapping phone calls of Andhra Pradesh counterpart, N Chandrababu Naidu.
A Visakhapatnam based advocate NVV Prasad lodged a complaint on Sunday night in III-Town Police Station. In his complaint, Prasad said that KCR has violated the basic rights of Naidu and tried to tarnish the latter’s image.
Prasad said TRS leaders are deliberately trying to snoop on some TDP leaders.
TV channels on Sunday aired an alleged conversation between Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson in which the CM assured that “all commitments would be fulfilled”.
The recording is said to part of the Telugu Desam MLA A. Revanth Reddy cash-for-vote case. The conversation was first aired by T News channel and was followed by others.
The telecast came after Andhra Pradesh home minister Nimmakayala Chinarajappa dared the Telangana government to make the tapes public. Telangana home minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy had earlier said that the government had audiotapes of Mr Naidu’s conversation with Mr Stephenson.
More complaints were filed by Telugu Desam leaders in various police stations of Vijayawada against K Chandrasekhar Rao and Telangana government on Monday.
Telugu Desam leaders from Pamarru, Ibrahimpatnam of Krishna district and Bapatla in Guntur district lodged complaints saying the tapes are fake and are meant to degrade Naidu.
Cases have been registered under sections 166, 167, 170, 464 and others of Indian Penal Code. The sections relate to offences of making false documents, public servant framing incorrect documents, personating public servant and others.
