Narine can continue bowling other deliveries but is in danger of being suspended if called once more

A decision has been reached on Sunil Narine of Kolkata Knight Riders after he was called for a suspect bowling action in the Indian Premier League. Narine's off-spinners have been found to be in breach of the law and he cannot bowl them henceforth in matches organised by BCCI, and in the IPL. The decision was taken by BCCI's Suspect Bowling Action Committee.
Narine was reported by the match officials on 22nd April 2015 after KKR's game against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Vishakapatnam. Subsequently he took a biomechanical analysis of his action in Sri Ramachandra Arthroscopy and Sports Sciences Centre (SRASSC) in Chennai. The BCCI Committee concluded that Narine's off-spinners were giving him an unfair advantage after viewing match footage and the analysis report done by SRASSC.
The decision does not mean that Narine has been banned from bowling entirely. His stock ball though has been taken out of the equation.
"He may however continue to bowl his other deliveries (the knuckle ball and the quicker straight ball)," said a media release from BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur. The release also made clear that Narine was in danger of being suspended if he continued to bowl his off-spinners.

"If Mr. Narine were to again bowl the off-spinner in this seasons IPL, the on-field umpires would apply Law 24.2 and call 'No ball' and, at the end of the match, would issue a further Report. Pursuant to clause 3.4 of the IPL Suspected Illegal Bowling Action Policy, the player would in such circumstances automatically be suspended from bowling in BCCI-organised matches," it said.
Narine will have to correct his action and then request for a review by the Official Assessment committee before resuming bowling his off-spinners.

The decision will come as a huge blow for defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders who were heavily reliant on Narine's mystery spinners on their way to clinch the title last year. Narine had not featured in KKR's games after the defeat against SRH in Vizag although he was allowed to play. KKR had taken the decision as a precautionary measure and have Brad Hogg, Johan Botha, Kuldeep Yadav and KC Cariappa as possible replacements.
This is not the first time that his action has come under scrutiny by BCCI. Narine was in fact banned from bowling during the Champions League T20 last year but subsequently got his action corrected, tested and cleared ahead of the start of IPL 2015. Before the start of the season, KKR had vehemently pushed for Narine to be cleared and had reportedly even threatened to pull out if he was not allowed. Narine was the second-highest wicket-taker in last year's IPL and has been KKR's talisman ever since his inclusion.
In this season so far, Narine has been a pale shadow of what he was after a remodeled action. He has managed only two wickets at an economy rate of 7.35 in five games. KKR are currently placed third in the points table and will be facing table-toppers Chennai Super Kings in their next game on Thursday, 30th April.
