Operation "not over yet" says government

DELHI: Union home secretary Rajiv Mehrishi said on Sunday that six Indian Air Force officials were martyred in the Pathankot terror attack. 20 officers were also injured in two days including 8 IAF officers and 12 NSG.

He also mentioned that the security operation at Pathankot Air Force base is 'not over yet'. The security forces were engaged with two more terrorists on Sunday noon after four terrorists were neutralized by Saturday evening.

The forces came to know about the presence of two more terrorists during the combing operation on Sunday morning. The government was under the impression that there were only four terrorists at Pathankot Air Force base as per information provided by SP Gurdaspur, who was abducted on Friday, and intelligence assessment.

According to sources “The terrorists were heavily armed with assault rifles, grenades, pistols and other ammunition.”

  1. May all our brave soldiers who lost their lives fighting these terrorists and protecting the country's people rest in peace. Really saddened. Not a good start for 2016.
    Praying for peace and justice.
